I was interested to read the article in the Grapevine about New Zealand war hero Cyril Basset, and the general lack of recognition of New Zealanders in WW1.
February proved a hectic month, finishing off with my son’s wedding (see page 29).
Having said that, is it any wonder that I didn’t have my eye on the approach of Easter. Talk about being caught “on the hop” . . It has only just ‘clicked’ that Easter will have been and gone before the next edition is out!

The festive season has come and gone and we are all licking our financial wounds as we face up to another year of stress and toil. Your writer experienced his first Christmas at sea – of which more later, perhaps.
