Feb2015_NETWORK TOPIC

Our State Government election will have been held whilst this edition was being printed, hence no election coverage at all!!
What a launch for 2015! . . . . Have you made, any New Year resolutions?  I would really like time to go a tad slower!
GrapevineAd: Internet users please note that GrapevineAd is in no way related to the Dayboro Grapevine.  They have a website under this name, and also post on twitter and facebook.  As I understand it, they are an overseas group.  If using them your ad will not be targeting the local market as you may be intending.
NO DEBUTANTE BALL IN 2015:
The Debutante Ball, previously set for March 7th., will not be going ahead for 2015.  This was due to insufficient ‘Debs’ coming forward to participate.

Is this the end of an era?  These days there are ‘graduation’ ceremonies being run for all different levels of schooling – pre-school to primary school,  primary school to high school . . . and more.  Are these taking over from the concept of a Deb Ball?

OR Perhaps it is down to timing?  The call-out for ‘Debs’ in the later half of 2014 may have been at an already busy time with school formals and other end-of-year events on the agenda – school, social and family – not to mention the costs impacts of all of the above!
AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS 2015
An O.A.M. was awarded to Ian David Wells, for Service to the Community of Mt Mee.  Ian is a regular contributor to the Dayboro Grapevine, keeping us abreast of happenings up the mountain – Mt Mee Ramblings – as well as special stories on upcoming functions at the Mt Mee Hall.  Congratulations Ian, and keep up your good work.

Another local Australia Day Awards recipient was honoured at the Moreton Bay Regional Council Australia Day Award’s night, held on Saturday 24th January.

The Dayboro Men’s Shed received an award in the Community Event category.  The award was accepted by the group’s President, Ben Stafford, and acknowledges the group’s ongoing support of men’s health.
