What do a jazz band’s drum kit, a fishing boat and locally made clay pottery have in common?
They are all historical artefacts in the Pioneering the Pine V exhibition, which help to recall the history of four pioneering families, at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, in Dayboro Rd, Kurwongbah, from November 1, 2008 to February 1, 2009.

It is with sadness that I report the death of Dan Wruck of Hausmann Rd in a farm accident last month.  Dan was a very good friend and neighbour and we miss his cheery grin very much.
The season continues its amazing run – each time it begins to look dry we get rain and the cattle are doing wonderfully well.  Let’s hope that the weather continues to behave as it did in the good old days.

The monthly movies are operated as a social community event, and we endeavour to provide wholesome movies within 6 to 10 weeks of first screening.  They are delivered from the main distributor, we use a professional projectionist, and the cost to us is over $500 per movie.   They are chosen often long before release, and on the basis of recommendation, seeing the trailer, and reading many reviews.

A trio of artists work on display at gallery

A broad range of artwork from photography to lino prints and collage will feature in a trio of art exhibitions running simultaneously at the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery in Strathpine from November 19 to December 19.
Mayor Alan Sutherland said the first display “Novena for Narcissus,” a series of detailed lino cut and dry point prints by Cooloola printmaker Sarah Mitchell, illustrated a poem of nine verses.

Creative Generation Excellence Awards showcase youth art

Four young high school artists will represent Moreton Bay Region in the upcoming Creative Generation Excellence Awards exhibition at Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery at Strathpine.
The exhibition, from October 15 to November 15, is being run simultaneously with the 2008 Youth Art Awards on display at the adjacent Strathpine Community Centre.

At the end of week 2 our team has responded to a total of  5 medical emergencies.  Feedback has been excellent from patients and Paramedics.
Intensive training continues on a weekly basis. Many team members are spending their days off obtaining first hand experience with our Dayboro Paramedics and at other busier stations.
