TREASURE ISLAND!  Multi-Arts Workshop

Green Mango Theatre will be running an exciting Multi-Arts Workshop over two days this April school holidays.  The workshop will cover Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Arts and will have a small performance outcome on the last day.

Attilla will be performing at the Mt Mee Public Hall on Saturday 21 March at 3pm.  He will be joined by Anna Moores (violin), Renat Yusopov (cello) and Hila Yusupov (piano), along with guest soprano Anna Butterworth, with an identical musical selection.

The 2015 Urban Country Music Festival can not only pride itself on a massive 3 day line-up including some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry, but also on having undoubtedly one of the best value for money events in the country.  With entry to the event from as little as a gold coin donation, it really is the affordable festival.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH – Sandra Nichols

Dayboro Art Gallery Artist of the Month for March has a love of flowers and aims to create works which reflect the vibrancy of her favourite subject matter.  Sandra Nichols has held a long time interest in all things art and craft, which has progressed into a love of painting.

Snakes!  That’s what’s been happening.  I’ve seen two lately – and two others I haven’t seen.  ‘O…K’ I hear you say. I also hear you say, very quietly, that the poor bugger must be starting to imagine things.

The Celtic Night at Mt Mee Hall on March 28th will be a fun-filled evening showcasing local talent, including local family, the Ashbys of Ocean View.  John and Sarah have been teaching Scottish Country Dancing for nearly twenty years, first in the UK then here in SE Qld and a few years ago started “Reel Rhythms”, offering bespoke ceilidh nights for parties, weddings and any function you like.

SAMFORD – 14th February 2015:

The Samford concert will be held at the Samford Community Church on Saturday February 14 at 3pm. 

 

Mt Mee will be dancing and feasting to Celtic entertainment on March 28th.  With music by the highly successful group “Celtic Fusion”, professional callers to help the novice through the dancing, a wandering Lone Piper serenading courting couples at their tables, and of course the inevitable haggis – duly piped and toasted, this is going to be a full night – in every sense of that description. 

The Art Train celebrates its first birthday in February.  The Art Train is situated in Samford Village in a restored train carriage just up Station Street from The Flying Nun.  The Art Train is dedicated to teaching art to children and adults, and also functions as an artist’s studio.

Dayboro Community Art Gallery Artist of the Month for February is Trevor Ryan.  Working from his home studio at Closeburn, he says there is never anything wrong with art.  “If you are happy with what you have created, you have made a piece of art.”  Perhaps this perspective came from his upbringing in a creative family.
