Well, there goes another year!  It was quite a salutary one for those self funded retirees who are sprinkled quite liberally around the Mountain.  Many lost half or more of their worth in 2008 – as someone said – “It’s worse than divorce, because I’ve lost half my assets and still got the wife!”
Everyone is hoping that in 2009, recession doesn’t bite too hard into the earnings of those bloodied investments, and that eventually, it will all “come right” for the kids.

Vigilance helps keep mozzies at bay

Recent rain is likely to bring mosquitoes in coming weeks, and Moreton Bay Regional Council is asking residents to help it keep the number of insects down.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said council had already carried out a number of aerial treatments across the region to reduce the number of mosquitoes and it was now concentrating on carrying out groundwork.

POLICE NEWS Dec08

On 7th November a vehicle which had been stolen from the Petrie area was located on Winn Road, Cashmere after being involved in a single vehicle collision.
There have been a number of recent incidents of damage to property in the park area around the Dayboro pool.

In Anchorage we boarded another train which took us to Denali.  Denali National Park is nothing like we expected – it becomes a treeless tundra right before your eyes.  We were lucky enough to get a good view of Mt McKinlay, the tallest mountain in the USA.
