logo_police.gifPROPERTY OFFENCES
There has been an increase in burglary offences over the last month with a total of nine offences.

Areas targeted have included Sunrise Drive, Ocean View (3 offences); Townsend Road Ocean View (2 offences); Dean Drive Ocean View; Foggs Road Mt Samson and Herron Road, Cedar Creek.   The main property items targeted have been cash and jewellery.
Of particular concern is that 5 of the burglaries involved the offender entering overnight and whilst occupants were home.   This is a very unusual offence for our area. In all of these cases, entry was through unlocked doors/windows and property away from the bedroom areas was taken (for example wallets and handbags from dining tables and kitchen benches).  Whilst this type of offender does not want a confrontation, there is always an increased chance that this will occur whilst owners are present.
It is a timely reminder to keep doors and windows locked, even when at home.  Please also take note of any suspicious vehicles and persons in your area.
Anyone with information in relation to these or other offences is asked to contact myself or Senior Constable Troy Nowitzki at Dayboro Police Station Ph 34251200/ 0427729289 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
BMX Day
Troy organised a BMX freestyle expo which was held at the Dayboro Skatepark on Saturday 20th August 2011.  The event was very well attended with a display by BMX and scooter riders.  We would like to thank major sponsor Penny from Dayboro Travel who donated raffle prizes and also the volunteers from Dayboro QAS and first responders, Rural Fire Brigade, QFS and Dayboro Apex who all assisted on the day.
TRAFFIC ISSUES
Please take the time to regularly re-acquaint yourselves with speed signage in the town area.  Recent changes include an extension of the 60 zone on Mount Mee Road (there is no longer a 70 zone past Fingerboard Road up to Bond Road) and we are still recording high speeds in the Hay Road 60 zone.

We have had a number of recent complaints in relation to horses being ridden on Mt Pleasant Road, Mt Brisbane Road and Laceys Creek Road in situations creating a hazard to traffic.  It is important that horse riders are aware that there is a requirement to not ride on the road unless there is insufficient room on the road shoulder or footpath.
