The December meeting of the Zonta Club of Pine Rivers was a festive celebration of the club’s achievements this year.
Members were asked to accessorize “Kath and Kym Christmas style ” and to donate presents for young people and women in need in the community. The meeting reflected on the events and activities of 2007. This included an International Women’s Day Luncheon with prominent guest speakers, the hosting of the Pine Rivers combined services club annual dinner, Pine Rivers Women in Business Expo, preparation of breast kits for women undergoing treatment for cancer, preparation of birth kits for women in third world countries, awarding of bursaries to young women in grade
Club President, Jan Spittle, congratulated members on the giving of their time to bring some joy to the lives of those in the community in need. With the formalities of meeting procedure over, the members enjoyed a night of fun playing party games proving that not only is the Zonta Club of Pine Rivers a hard working service club, they have fun as well.
The Zonta Club of Pine Rivers Inc would like to thank all our sponsors and supporters over the last year.
The Zonta Club of Pine Rivers are the proud recipients of two grants. The Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund has provided funding for the colour photocopier and laminator to the value of $13,543. We also received a Community Assistance Grant from the Pine Rivers Shire Council to help finance our International Womens Day event – see above for details.
Our club is currently preparing emergency kits for a women’s refuge and school starter kits for the children of the refuge.
