Pine Rivers Shire Council Mayor, Yvonne Chapman received a heartfelt farewell and thank you from Dayboro at the function held at the Dayboro Uniting Church on Sunday 10th February 2008.
Many representatives of Dayboro’s community groups were there to bid her farewell and express their appreciation for her efforts over the years – some stood up to speak publically whilst many others offered their thank you’s, farewells and best wishes one-on-one whilst enjoying the ‘cuppa’ after the official proceedings.
Thank you to Dayboro’s Combined Churches for organising this event so that Dayboro could indeed show Yvonne how much she is respected and fondly thought of by the many individuals and community groups she has had dealings with during her time in office, both as a Local Government representative and as a State Government representative.
Yvonne was most appreciative of these outpourings and spoke of the changes throughout Pine Rivers Shire during her lifetime and of how saddened she is that, come the amalgamation of the three Councils – Pine Rivers, Caboolture and Redcliffe – Pine Rivers is no more.  She urged us to keep the name alive and for clubs bearing the words “Pine Rivers” in their name to keep it, so that Pine Rivers doesn’t totally disappear.
Yvonne spoke also of the saying from her husband, Graham, that kept her going through trying times e.g. When under public scrutiny  – It’s better to be looked over rather than overlooked.
