With just over two months until the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, Queenslanders need to ask themselves the question. Are you brave enough to shave – well are you?
If you’ve always been meaning to join in the fun, but just never took the big step, why not register to be part of the special 10 year celebration of WGS and help those living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
World’s Greatest Shave will be held from 13-15 March 2008 with the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland aiming to raise $3 million. These funds will ensure that the Foundation continues to offer practical care and support for patients and their families, as well as invest funds into vital medical research.
Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Peter Johnstone, said “Queenslanders have embraced WGS in the most amazing way, and every year more and more people put up their hands to shave or colour their hair because not only is it a great cause, but it’s also loads of fun.”
“I want every person who has ever coloured or shaved their hair to know what a valuable contribution they have made to the lives of patients and their families. The Foundation would never have been able to achieve the level of patient care and support, and fund the fantastic research projects had it not been for their bravery.”
“Even in the 10 years since WGS began, we have seen incredible improvements in treatments and patient survival rates due to cutting edge medical research, some of which the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland has been privileged to fund.”
“The Foundation has a mission to care and a vision to cure, and we won’t stop until there is a cure available for every single patient,” Mr Johnstone said.
