May2015_Pet Day A Crowd Favourite

The Great Dayboro Pet Day returned to the grounds of the Old Mill last month, to an even bigger crowd, with even more attractions.
The whole day was in support of the Dayboro Community Kindy and all donations to participate in the activities were forwarded straight to them.  The Kindy presented a tantalising array of baked goodies for sale, as well as some adorable artwork which is still on display in the Old Mill Animal Hospital reception lounge.
The Best Dressed Pet competition has become a much-coveted title and entrants went all out to display the creative sides of their pets.  A multi-coloured Jack Russell Terrier was awarded third place, a pair of Dalmatians in dresses came in second and the exceptionally creative ballerina-themed duo pictured here won first prize.  The little pony was remarkably calm during her visit and posed for hundreds of photos with thrilled locals.
Teams from local animal charities Equine Action Queensland and Young Diggers Dog Squad had displays to raise awareness of their fantastic work.  The Virbac Animal Health representative was on hand to share product tips and tricks with pet owners.  Another highlight was the $1 bags of selected pet food through the Old Mill Pet & Livestock Supplies.  This was a fun little ‘gimmick’ to get exposure for the Kindy’s big day, and by 9am there was a line up of more than 50 clients looking to get their hands on the ridiculous specials.
The day also doubled as the official opening of the Australian Centre for Equine Dentistry, which is a referral and general dentistry centre for South East Queensland.  Tours of the dental clinic and stable facilities were conducted throughout the day.
The Old Mill team would like to acknowledge the support and enthusiasm of: Dayboro Kindy, Equine Action Queensland, Virbac Animal Health, Tru Blu Photography, Horse & Pony Parties, Young Diggers Dog Squad, Nutro Pet Foods, Pure Bamboo, Lyppards Veterinary Supplies, Troy Laboratories, Funky Jumping Castles, Riley Lye Face Painting, White Ridge Animal Farm and Zoetis.
