May2015_Dayboro Pony Club has a Queensland State Showjump Champion
Just a quick story to let everyone know that our little club has a 2015 P.C.A.Q. State Show Jump Champion in A/B grade. Starting height is 1.20 metres. Jen and Flinny have done us proud again. Jenny Henderson & Foxhill Freedom (Flinny) have just returned from Charters Towers with the coveted Maroon Horseland sponsored Championship Rug and Trophies.
Jenny won her first State title back in 2005 at 12 years of age riding her mum’s old horse Fancy Fox. In 2014 Jen and Flinny went to Yeppoon to win her second Rug, which, if you have been to Dayboro Day Parade you would have seen these Rugs in our float, being very proudly displayed. Jenny has put a lot of time and hard work into these wins, which are just a few of her many. Jenny and Flinny have also been to two Nationals in past years, one in Toowoomba where she got 3rd overall and the other in Sydney finishing in the top 10 of A/B GRADE. She is also bringing home the highest points trophy as well, and I was just told by her grandmother, that her mother, Kerry has won this same trophy 3 times when she was a girl. Jenny has now won it twice. She has 4 years left in her pony club competitive years to try and pass her mum’s efforts. Did I say that Jenny is very competitive …. ?
What’s Coming up for Dayboro Pony Club?
MAY 10th our club is holding a Official Showjump Day where you can see Jenny and Flinny in action. We would love to see some local spectators. All are welcome. No gate fee. FREE.
20-21st June: This is a first. Our club will be hosting the annual Zone 26 Pony Club Camp at the show grounds. We are expecting 100 riders and mounts. Attached to that will be mums, dads and siblings. We have lots of riding activities to keep everyone happy eg. Jumping, Dressage, Hoof Ball, Polocrosse skills, Cow Cutter & Skills, Sporting , Games, obstacle course, grid work and a Trail Ride through the paddocks and properties behind the show grounds, thanks to the Dayboro Trail riders. We are also having a sit down dinner – thanks to the Show Society for helping us with that. We also have a few of the horse related businesses getting involved with some displays and talks eg. The Old Mill Vets, Samford Valley Vets, Horseland Strathpine and Cool Runnings. So don’t be alarmed this weekend with all the extra people and horses in town. This will be a fun weekend for all.
4 & 5th July – Dayboro Show Weekend. This is to be a great Diamond Show. I have seen some of the plans and it will be bigger and brighter than last year’s show . . . . and that was a good one. Hope to see everyone at this year’s show.
23rd August – This will be our annual Sport, Jumping & Rider Class GYMKHANA. This is where the young ones get their first taste for competition. We can get anywhere between 80 to 100 riders at this, so if you are passing, drop in and see how hard these kid work at having fun.
We are a small club compared to some in town, but we do hope you take some pride in our town’s equestrians for all the hard work they put into their passion for competition and for the love of Horses.
