Thank you to those who visited & purchased raffle tickets from us at the Dayboro Day Festival. We hope you had as much fun as we did. We’ll see you at the rodeo next. (Rescheduled to June 14)
Campfire Safety
Marshmallow weather is upon us and we know you all love open campfires. BUT if it isn’t built, used and extinguished correctly it can easily cause a bushfire so here are some tips.
– Always light fires in cleared areas, where there is minimal grass and scrub and no overhanging branches.
– Always keep a safe distance from tents, vehicles or camping equipment especially flammable items like gas bottles and fuel cans.
– Never use a flammable liquid on a fire even to try and start the fire.
– Never leave your fire unattended.
– Always extinguish your fire with water, not dirt or sand. Fires can smolder under soil and can stay hot for more than 8 hours.
– Always extinguish your fire at night – most campfire burns are from hot ashes and embers the next morning.
– Always supervise kids and pets around fires.
– Always keep a bucket of water near the fire.
– Only use dead wood & not branches from living trees as they can create lots of smoke.
– Never create fires that are bigger than you need for warmth or cooking.
Less than one second of body contact with a campfire that has a temperature of over 70 degrees will result in a third degree (full thickness) burn.
Every year firies are called out for fires that could have been avoided by applying some commonsense and basic precautions.
Combined Emergency Service Message
This is your friendly reminder that rural residents should ensure their property numbering posts are in a prominent position. Remember if your number has faded or your post is damaged, contact council so they can replace it. These posts provide easy identification and location of properties for all emergency services. Every minute counts in an emergency.
Are your family, home & neighbours prepared?

RFSQ Awareness Day on Sunday 7th June
You will find us, and hopefully a few fire appliances, at the Dayboro Markets. We would love to see you all there so drop in and say hello, grab a brochure, arrange a visit by your local Fire Warden or get a photo of the kids with one of the trucks.
the Wardens’ Word
***ALL FIRES-ongoing request***
The wardens for the areas below are requesting a courtesy call before lighting ANY fire please. Even fires below the 2x2m permit requirements. This is ‘not’ mandatory just a safety precaution. Thanks for your co-operation!
Remember…. YOUR FIRE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
…DIDYANO?…
The average size campfire can get as hot as 500 degrees after burning for only 3 hours.
