June2015_NETWORK TOPIC

Well this is a strange one . . . Usually at this time of year I am writing this column after attending the Dayboro Day Festival (before sending the edition off for printing . . . having filled in the spaces left for the festival news such as the award winners).  Not this year! . . . You will have to wait until the July edition for that round-up as this year’s June edition will already be printed and about to be delivered when the festival happens.
Not only that . . .  but there is also the absence of a report on the Dayboro Rodeo . . because that event had to be rescheduled due to the rain in early May.  June 14 is the rescheduled date for Dayboro Rodeo . . . see you there!
Oh how well I remember that rain!!  I was caught up in the issue of the Brisbane trains coming to a halt.  Hey . . . some things just cannot be helped!  One of the things that could have been handled so much better was where (and, to a certain degree, when) passengers were off-loaded.  I was offloaded on the very exposed platform of Bowen Hills Station – in the pouring rain – along with so many other passengers . . and kept ‘in the dark’ as regards what was happening.  Soaking wet and cold we eventually made it to Petrie Station.  So close, but yet so far . . . because I had parked at Narangba Station that morning, due to the impossibility of getting a parking space at Petrie!
Misleading information about road closures delayed my ‘rescue’ from Petrie Station until well after 10pm . . . By then I did not care about my car, I just wanted to get home – and warm, and dry!  (My journey had begun at 3.20pm)
It all was quite the adventure and makes for a different sort of tale to tell . . . . but I could certainly do without the lingering health issues that have plagued me since.  One would certainly be hoping that these will be behind me come Dayboro Day, as I am certainly ‘so over it’ right now!  This ‘old girl’ just doesn’t bounce back as quickly as she used to is the plain and simple truth of the matter!!
