Happy New Year!I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and safe Christmas and festive season.
With the start of the school year, I would urge everyone to remember to drive safely near schools and to be especially careful where buses pick up and drop off children. As you know, children can be unpredictable and drivers need to be prepared for the unexpected.
We hope to start the Dayboro students on Dance exams in Term 4 of this year and would also like to get “Song & Dance” and Drama classes up and running in 2008.
Our Dayboro studio held its Open Day for 2008 at the Dayboro Community Hall on Wednesday 30th JanuaryWe had teachers, students doing demonstrations, uniforms and school information packs were available on the day.
Recently, our Dayboro Head Teacher – Mrs Karen Mellers – accompanied me and 13 of our students to Melbourne where we chaperoned the students who were attending the Australian Ballet School Summer School. Bree Kuczma moved into Dayboro for the first time six years ago. At that time the town ran off a foodstore on the then main road, McKenzie Street and the pub was a common gathering ground on a Friday night. Now we are a bustling and growing community, though still as unique and close knit as the day when there really wasn’t that much here. These days you may not know everyone in line at the IGA, though you can be sure that they are as genuine as the blokes still yarning over a beer in the Pub.We all live here for the same reason, we love this place. It’s not often that you get your dream job in your little piece of Paradise, though that is exactly what happened to Bree when she was accepted as a Sales Agent for Ray White Dayboro.

With the start of a New Year come the New Year resolutions, the promise to quit smoking, and 2008 is the year I lose weight and get fit, and that is all going to happen in the first month, sound familiar. We have all been there at some time in our life, but you know that it can happen, not in the first month, but it can happen.2008 can be the year you achieve all of the above if you, prioritize, take it one day at a time, set small achievable goals at first, and very important, be disciplined.
What a summer we are having! But there is grass and water too, what a novelty for our sunburned hills!
Our daughter and her family came over to the SunshineState from the Land of the Long White Cloud for two weeks and Christmas. They didn’t see the sun once. But they went home to clear warm sunny days – certainly aberrant weather for Auckland too!
This is the first time since we have been on the Mountain that we have seen pink-eye or barber’s pole anaemia in young calves on their mothers – so be warned!
