The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held, 10am Sunday, 1 March 2009.  Nominations were called from Members for positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, Rostering Officer and 3 Gallery Convener positions.  At the AGM, decisions will have been made on the "Artist of the Month" for each month for the remainder of 2009.

Creative Generation Excellence Awards showcase youth art

Four young high school artists will represent Moreton Bay Region in the upcoming Creative Generation Excellence Awards exhibition at Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery at Strathpine.
The exhibition, from October 15 to November 15, is being run simultaneously with the 2008 Youth Art Awards on display at the adjacent Strathpine Community Centre.

A trio of artists work on display at gallery

A broad range of artwork from photography to lino prints and collage will feature in a trio of art exhibitions running simultaneously at the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery in Strathpine from November 19 to December 19.
Mayor Alan Sutherland said the first display “Novena for Narcissus,” a series of detailed lino cut and dry point prints by Cooloola printmaker Sarah Mitchell, illustrated a poem of nine verses.

Well we’ve had an exciting couple of weeks and have lots of news from the Dayboro Community Art Gallery.  Three of our members won awards at the recent Alliances BookFest and Art Festival held last recently at the Albany Creek High School.  Garry Cole, Lorraine Emmerson and Avril Towerton all won awards.

Tony started painting creatively from an early age, experimenting with all traditional mediums and finding himself most comfortable with acrylic on canvas.

However, during his Art school years, the lure of pure design attracted him to the advertising industry, where, for 40 years, he worked as a multi award winning graphic designed and art director. 

Recently he decided to make art a full time career.  His style is very difficult to describe, except to say that it is modern and his affinity for design and composition is demonstrably apparent.

Tony expresses himself through the use of vibrant colour, attracting and stimulating the viewer.
