Operating a small business these days is very time consuming and every means of saving time should be carefully considered especially with the recent introduction of Cloud accounting software.  Cloud accounting software basically puts your accounts online and you access them as you would your online bank account.  There are many benefits of cloud software over the traditional desktop version but they need to be considered against the costs.  

By now most of us are aware of the potential risks associated with handling bats and flying foxes, but we don’t give much thought to possible contact between them and our pets. 

Bats and flying foxes are known to be carriers of a number of viruses but there are a couple which particularly concern us where contact with pets is involved.

Whilst dogs and cats will always be the most common domestic pets, exotic animals like birds, rodents and reptiles are quickly gaining popularity in Australia.  It is lucky then, that Dr Michelle Barton of the Old Mill Animal Hospital, has a special interest in exotics medicine and husbandry.

Intro (By Joanne Harding-Smith), recently Lynne returned home from 6 weeks away in Russia, Scandinavia and France and upon her return we were having a giggle over some of the things that occur when you’re away.  So I asked her to indulge me and she sent me this email which I know will be amusing, especially to the more seasoned traveller:

Lucy, a 9-year old chocolate Labrador suffered from a very unusual condition in September, where her front legs had suddenly become paralysed over the course of just one hour.  Her owners were obviously very concerned, as there are several worrisome things that can cause paralysis in this area, including venomous snakes, and paralysis ticks of course.  It would be very unusual for either of these critters to cause a paralysis of only the front legs though, so further investigation was warranted.
