THE WAY WE WERE

April at the Heritage Museum,
In Old Petrie Town

Throughout the month of April at the “Heritage Museum, Old Petrie Town” the U3A Tintart classes are presenting “The Way We Were” -an artistic depiction of the 1920’s and 1930’s in our region.
u3a_tintart_300x197pw_200dpi.jpgPictured at left are some of the 16 artists involved in the exhibition.  They are, from left to right, Kay, Kathleen, James, Lillian, Robyn and Dorothy.
With our Art Exhibition we have tried to artistically portray a period of time in which, in our Region, there were two Australias.
One, “A very progressive Society”, very aware of the great financial and social problems of the period, but unwilling to surrender, and the other “Struggling to survive” but with a great belief in the future.
The two Societies are very dear to our heart.  They are the Australia of our predecessors.  We have grown older listening to their stories, their desires, their failures and their achievements.
It makes us feel proud of the wonderful Region they have built and we have inherited.
This is a very special invitation to a romantic, nostalgic journey that will delight you and will promote a lot of reminiscing into a not very far past.
You can see our Exhibition through the month of April during Museum hours – Wednesday to Sunday 10.00am to 3.00pm.
Lillian Tebesceff,
Exhibition Coordinator.
