June2015_Show News

The 60th Annual Show is now only about 4 weeks away.  I hope that your flowers are blooming, the veges are growing, the fruit trees are fruiting, the horses are getting restless etc etc.   My flowers are blooming now, as they do each year , so that they have nearly all finished for the show.  Never mind – someone else will have a chance of winning a prize.
Things are very slowly coming together this year – it is hoped that by mid-June that just the final touches will need to be sorted.  We have new stall holders coming as well as our old favourites and  heaps of entertainment.
Our new webpage is still not up and running at the time of writing, however we are collating all the information that we need and the ‘rough’ we have seen is really exciting and modern.  Schedules are available at the Information Centre or by contacting me via:
on our Facebook page , or, as a last resort,
by phone – 0407 751 179.

We have five lovely young ladies participating in the Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl competition.   Judging is to be done on 6th June and it is hoped that there will be an afternoon high tea at the Showgrounds.  Whichever girl wins will hopefully go to Woodford later in June  to represent us at the Near North Coast Sub-chamber presentation evening.
The new admin building is really moving along well now.  The viewing deck is completed and the back stairs are well  under way.  Over the long weekend it is hoped that the ramp will be remodelled and that the front  steps will be installed.  Extra bracing under the building has been installed, and more ‘stuff’ has been moved up from the old office.  We have been donated a second hand fridge for the kitchen which will make things easier  to make the judges’ morning teas, lunches etc.  Our sincere thanks to Paul and Sue for their generosity.
We held our Annual Meeting in May and the following people have once again taken on the roles of the Executive Committee.  George Thompson – President, Errol Brough – Vice President, Alison Taylor – Secretary and Joy Weston – Treasurer.  Joy has given us notice that she will not be standing for the position of Treasurer in 2016, so we are calling for expressions of interest for this position. (See notice in this edition n.b. Refers to our printed and digital editions – see page 9).
If you require any further information regarding the show, please do not hesitate to contact us on the above listed means.

Alison Taylor – Secretary.
