SONGS ON THE MOUNTAIN Sun 14th Sept 2014

“THE MELODY LINGERS” WITH THE SAVOYARD SINGERS
On Sunday 14th September The Savoyard Singers present their 10th anniversary Mt Mee performance, celebrating a decade of happy music and delighted audiences in the graceful old Mt Mee Hall.

The performance this year, “The Melody Lingers” is a selection of some of the most loved songs from the legendary era of the great ‘musicals’.  We will hear from writers of the ilk of George and Ira Gershwin, Lionel Bart, Irving Berlin, Borodin, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, Rodgers and Hammerstein and even Roy Orbison.  For example there will be music from shows such as “Oliver”, “Top Hat”, “Jeckyll and Hyde”, “The King and I” and “Porgy and Bess”, but there are many others.
The show begins at 2pm, and it will run until 4.30pm or so, with an interval of 30 minutes to allow patrons sufficient time to do justice to the legendary ‘country’ afternoon tea on the deck or lawn. Many who attend like to make a day of it, and picnic at the Look-Out or at the Gantry in the Forestry Reserve, or indeed  book for lunch at ‘birches’ restaurant, which conveniently situated next door.
Admission includes the generous afternoon tea, and is $25.00 – or $20.00 for pension card holders.  Secondary school students are half price and primary schoolers free.
But booking is essential – please phone Kay 5498 2104 or Joyce 5498 2270
This is a non-profit event proudly sponsored by the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
