September 24th Worm Farm, Composting and Green Manures Workshop
9am – 12.30pm
Join Bruce Ham from Brisbane Organic Growers to learn about composting and worm farming which is an environmentally sensitive and low cost method of making fertilizer and soil conditioner to promote healthy plants.  This workshop includes making mulch, green manures and compost, mineral additives, weeds and other plants that build fertility.
Cost: $10/8 conc. – including morning tea

October 18th – Chemical Free Homes and Kids – Creating a Healthy Home and Raising Healthy Kids in a Toxic World.
7pm – 8.30pm
Join Sarah Lantz to learn about the issues of chemicals and their impact on human health.  This workshop exposes the hidden contaminants in many everyday foods, personal care products, medications and household products.  The workshop also addresses what are chemicals, what makes a chemical toxic, health and behavioural impacts of chemicals in the body, how chemicals are measured and determine their safety, and what chemicals should we look out for and avoid?. The right to a clean, healthy and uncontaminated environment so we all can achieve maximum potential is vital for health and wellbeing.
Dr Sarah Lantz (PhD) UQ is a writer, university lecturer and researcher, mother and all round chemical conscious advocate.  She specializes in the area of child and youth health and wellbeing.  She has written and recently published the book Chemical Free Kids:  Raising Healthy Children in a Toxic World.  She is currently employed at the University of Queensland.
