Community grant a win for Dayboro Bowls Club

The Dayboro Bowls Club has been successful in winning a Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant.

Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd said the club’s $19,422.73 grant would be used to upgrade the existing bowling green.

After visiting the club to congratulate them on receiving the grant, Ms Boyd praised the club’s volunteers who continuously help strengthen the local Dayboro community.

“The upgrade to the bowling green will provide a better playing surface for local bowlers and other visitors during competitions,” Ms Boyd said.

“The new green will be ready for competition in February next year and I’ve already committed to sponsoring the first game.

Sport and recreation clubs like the Dayboro Bowls Club are the life blood of small rural towns and this grant helps improve this community facility.

The Dayboro Bowls Club is among five local community groups which were successful in receiving grants that totalled $79,000.73.”

The next round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants opens mid-October 2015 and will close on 30 November 2015.

Ms Boyd encouraged organisations and clubs to contact her office for assistance making their applications.                     *
