It’s not just tea and scones…
Although tea and scones are one of the perks! So just what does the Dayboro Branch of the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) do?
We are involved in projects locally, nationally and internationally, providing support for women and their families. At a local level we offer support and companionship to one another and those who need help in our community. We provide care packs to a local women’s shelter. We host a couple of seniors mornings annually. We take on small catering jobs as a means of fundraising. Craft classes are held at the CWA Hall on the first and fourth Friday of each month from 9.30am (cost $3, byo lunch); and cards are played every Saturday afternoon from 1pm (phone Norma on 3425 1343 for more info).
But I can’t cook or sew I hear you say? Don’t worry, neither are a prerequisite, though we do have members who enjoy both and will gladly share their talents. Basically we are a group of women who just enjoy getting together and helping within our community. We are from varied backgrounds and at different stages of life. We welcome newcomers, so if you would like to join us, feel free to pop along to a meeting or night gathering.
The Dayboro CWA monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 9.30am in the CWA Hall on Delaney Road, Dayboro (enquiries to President Pam Peters 3425 2786). If you have small children they are most welcome too, we have some toys and a fenced verandah. Recently we have started a monthly evening gathering for those who work during the day. Our evening gatherings are social and relaxed usually at a local Dayboro or Samford cafe. These are on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm (phone Stephanie 0439 799 078 if you would like to be kept informed of our next venue).
