Nov2010_WHO OR WHAT KILLED COCK ROBIN
Was it the Sparrow, with his Bow and Arrow – as the original song suggests? Or was it something quite different?
Hear contemporary Australian composer Martin Wesley-Smith’s ecological explanation of the demise of this little bird, as featured by COUNTERPOINT VOCAL ENSEMBLE, conducted by Lesley Brown.
Counterpoint will be performing Who Killed Cock Robin at the Dayboro Lutheran Church on Sunday 21st November, commencing at 3 p.m. Admission prices (including light refreshments) are $15 and $13; school-age children free.
The program will include Bob Chilcott’s I Share Creation, a set of four short songs reflecting the relationship between man and his environment, as seen from the perspective of four very different cultures – Chinese, American Indian, Aztec, and Arctic Eskimo. Continuing in the spirit of multi-nationalism, Counterpoint will also entertain you with Francis Poulenc’s Huit Chansons Françaises and the much-loved Scandinavian folk-song Värmland from northern Sweden.
For additional information please phone 3863 0730.
