GETTING SET FOR ITS CENTENARY IN 2011

St Aidan’s Anglican Church Dayboro will be 100 years old in March 2011, and local people are invited to submit their memories and stories about the church and its people for a special centenary booklet.
Hazel Fealy, now in her 80s, has been a member of the church for most of her life.  “I remember when they used to curtain off half the vestry so the travelling minister could sleep there the night before the service,” she said.
The church has seen a lot of history and many changes in society.  It witnessed the sons of Dayboro going off to two world wars, and was even blown down in a cyclone and rebuilt (slightly out of plumb).
SEEKING YOUR MEMORIES:  If anyone has old memories of the church and its relationship with events in the town, in their own families, or in the wider world, please email them to Belinda Pollard on smallbluedog@gmail.com , phone Belinda on 0412 442 102, or post them to the parish office at 2 Wyllie Street Petrie, 4502.
WILL YOU HELP WITH SPRUCE UP?  The church is also keen to spruce up this historic building before its 100th birthday.  Please contact Belinda if you would like to help, or if you have suggestions for appropriate fundraising activities (the roof needs repairs estimated at $30,000).
