Buying property ‘off the plan’ will be easier than ever before thanks to new reforms introduced in Parliament last week.

The Member for Pine Rivers, Seath Holswich MP, has welcomed a Queensland Government grant to Pine Rivers electorate organisations for projects to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the First World War.

 

Moreton Bay Regional Council’s 2014/15 Budget will provide more than $8.5 million for key road, drainage, park and recreation projects across Division 11.

COUNCIL BUDGET 2014/15

On 5th June, the Mayor and I delivered the 2014/15 Moreton Bay Regional Council Budget and were pleased to report that despite the impact of the same cost pressures that affect many in the community, Council was able to keep a rate increase within reach of inflation and for the owner occupied residential property, this amounted to an average increase of 3.25% or 82 cents per week.  Obviously, depending on valuations, this will vary across the Region but it is the average.

Pine Rivers Lego Expo

Thank you to everyone who attended the Lego Expo at Strathpine on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend.  We had excellent attendances again this year and I hope to have final details of the donations provided to local community groups from the proceeds in the next Grapevine.

 

Dayboro State School P & C had cause for celebration recently with the advice that they had been successful with their grant application to upgrade the school hall and kitchen.

This much needed funding boost is delivered to hundreds of charities and not-for profits through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to provide invaluable frontline services to the local community.

COUNCIL BUDGET TIME

On top of the myriad of day to day issues, your Council has been working hard over the last few months on the challenging task of preparing the 2014/15 Budget and in so doing, is facing many of the same difficulties as other levels of Government such as reduced non rate revenues and increased costs. 

Learning about road safety will be part of Dayboro Community Kindergarten’s curriculum with a $16,837 Community Grant from Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Division 11 councillor Bob Millar said the grant funded a 90 metre bike path, paved area and water bore for the kindergarten.
