Are dingoes an increasing problem in this district?

I received a telephone call from a resident on a small acreage, upset over the loss of her sheep to either wild dogs or dingoes. My discussions with local vets brought a mixture of theories/observations, including dingoes versus wild dogs scenarios.
It was suggested that, as dingoes have always been part of the normal stock losses encountered, it would need to be considered in the context of whether our local farmers were actually encountering an increase in losses due to dingoes / wild dogs.
Smaller holdings with their smaller stock numbers – and often species which present an easier target – would not necessarily reflect whether this activity was on the increase.
