The exhibition “Kids’ Timea century of learning through play” – which features children’s cubby houses filled with old toys, figurines and storybooks – opened at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum in Dayboro Rd, Kurwongbah, on September 4, 2008.

1950 and 1970 cubby entries and 1950 boys toys display case

Divisional Councillor David Dwyer (Div 7) said the exhibition, especially designed for three to eight-year-olds, explored the passage of time through family generations and the toys they played with.

“Developed by the Queensland Museum, this fun and interactive exhibition gives children a better understanding of the toys, clothing and popular culture that existed throughout the ages, with a focus on 1910, the 1930s, 1950s, 1970s and the present day,” he said.

“The exhibition encourages children to immerse themselves in the different eras and learn more about the world that their own parents or grandparents grew up in.

“It takes you on a journey back in time and is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to share childhood memories and learn through play.”

Cr Dwyer said the “Kids Time a century of learning through play” exhibition would be on display at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum until October 26.  The Museum is open Wednesday to Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.  Entry is free.
