Step Outside and Come Alive

Residents and visitors to Moreton Bay region are being encouraged to step outside and enjoy their natural surroundings this August for the many activities on offer through Outside and Alive.

Organised by Moreton Bay Regional Council, Outside and Alive activities, held over the month, offer a broad range of adventures like Paddle the Pine, cultural events such as Music By the Lake, and culinary expertise at What’s Cooking in the Gardens at Redcliffe.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said there was something for every age group to appreciate at the sixth Outside and Alive event.

“People who want to try something a bit different have the opportunity to take part in Tai Chi, woodcraft, disc golf, archery, windsurfing, cycling at Lakeside or plant identification at Kumbartcho Nursery in Eatons Hill,” Cr Sutherland said.

A bear hunt, bear craft, bear stories like Goldilocks and a teddy bear parade are some of the beary nice activities being held at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic for under five-year-olds at Pine Rivers Park, on Wednesday August 20 from 10am to 1pm.  Families are encouraged to bring a packed picnic lunch and a favourite teddy bear to The Teddy Bear’s Picnic. 

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic would also feature Kids Sports like an obstacle course climbing through a tunnel, a visit from Blazer the Koala, prizes and giveaways, as well as the library service running a colouring-in competition.

“The parents or caregivers of children participating in the Teddy Bear’s Picnic colouring-in competition will be able to collect an entry form from their local library or download it from internet website www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au

There will be the active after school program activities in Pine Rivers Park as well as the Junior Ranger event at Kumbartcho.”

Environment-oriented activities include: the River Clean at Leis Park, Bob Bell Park and Dohles Rocks Boat Ramp on August 10, the Sustainable Home Tour and Talk at Caboolture on August 16, and the Lowlands Festival, an environmental family fun day featuring a visit from Channel 10 personality Ranger Stacey, at Osprey House, in Dohles Rocks Rd, Griffin on August 31.
