Shutterbugs look for Memories of Pine

memories_of_pine.jpgCalling all local photographers and computer artists, a special additional ‘Memories of Pine’ category has been introduced to the 2008 Annual Art Awards.
Pine Rivers Mayor Yvonne Chapman said for this year only, artists had been invited to produce Photography or 2D Digital Art or Computer Art on the theme ‘Memories of Pine,’ for category 4, in the art awards.
Mayor Chapman said the photographic artwork must depict people, places or an event in the Pine Rivers Shire.  Artists are also asked to write a 50 word statement to accompany their entry.
“This special category is open to residents of Pine Rivers, Caboolture and Redcliffe,” she said.
“The prize of $500 is acquisitive, so the winning work will become part of Council’s Art Collection.
Entries must be delivered to the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery at 199 Gympie Rd, Strathpine by 14 March, the day before amalgamation.”
Mayor Chapman said Councillors were keen for local photographers to document Pine Rivers Shire now.
She said in addition to setting up this special ‘Memories of Pine’ category they wished to see the production of a book, which would utilize the best photographs from the Art Awards exhibition.
“Such a publication would group photographs in categories to reflect the past, present and the future of Pine Rivers,” Mayor Chapman said.
Entry forms for the Pine Rivers Art Awards are available from libraries, the Art Gallery, Customer Service and the Heritage Museum. It is also downloadable from www.pinerivers.qld.gov.au
This year the art awards will be displayed at two venues the Strathpine Community Centre and the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery, which are adjacent in Strathpine.
