Shutterbugs capture Hays Inlet inhabitants

Grab your camera and get out into the catchment to photograph the wonderful people and wildlife who inhabit Hays Inlet!  Please note that entries in this competition close on Friday May 16, 2008.  (See below for details on the huge area included in the Hays Inlet catchment!)

South-East Queensland photographers, not just local residents, are being encouraged to travel around the enticing Hays Inlet Catchment area, experience it, and record it through photographs, which they can enter in the Hays Inlet Week Photography Competition.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Councillor Allan Sutherland said: “Hays Inlet Week celebrates the people, places and environment of the Hays Inlet Catchment which covers the area from Brighton in the south to Saltwater Creek in the north, Ocean View, Mt Nebo, and Mt Glorious in the west to Redcliffe in the east.”

“This catchment is home to more than 1100 species of native plants, 200,000 people and a numerous variety of native animals and fish,” Mayor Sutherland said.

He said the Moreton Bay Regional Council was pleased to sponsor the competition and be part of the co-operative organising Hays Inlet Week.

“The photographic categories include: Landscape or Waterscape Image, Natural Living in the Environment and People,” Mayor Sutherland said.

He said photography judges would look at criteria such as interesting or appealing subject matter, unusual lighting, exotic location, unusual camera angle, and composition.

“There are also the basics for a good photo, which include sharp or focused subject matter, the correct exposure (not too dark or too light) and the appropriate presentation,” he said.

The deadline for entries is May 16, and the cost is $2 per section entered.

Entry forms can be obtained by emailing haysinlet@yahoo.com.au  or by visiting
