Sep2013_OLD MILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL PET OF THE MONTH
It’s always tragic when a newborn animal loses their mother, but it doesn’t always have a sad ending for the little one. Quick thinking farmer, Bob, rang the Old Mill Animal Hospital after his ewe died within hours of giving birth to their first lamb of the season.
Knowing he wouldn’t have the time to raise the dependent little newborn, he handed him over to Old Mill nurse Amy for some neo-natal care. Little ‘Rambo’ (get it.. RAM-bo!) suckled well from the very first bottle of lamb formula, and was curious and brave in his new surroundings. He has been an adorable drawcard in the hospital for the last few weeks, charming visitors with his quirky confidence and the occasional sailor suit outfit, complete with toddler nappy to minimise mess! Rambo is a Wiltshire Horn breed of sheep, which means they are usually bred for their meat. However this little one is destined for a life of luxury and living out his days as a much-loved pet, (nappy and all)!
