Nov2013_A plan for local waterways
Moreton Bay Regional Council has released a blueprint for the sustainable management of waterways in the Moreton Bay Region over the next two decades.
The Draft Water Strategy 2013 – 2031 establishes council’s vision that guides the planning and provision of infrastructure and programs to support the region’s extensive network of natural waterways.
It provides a framework for balancing growth with the needs of the local environment, and identifying strategies for the long-term management, health and quality of local catchments, creeks and coastal areas.
Council’s Total Water Cycle Management Plan, which has received state and national accolades, is a key component of the Draft Water Strategy.
Residents will have an opportunity to provide their feedback on the Draft Water Strategy 2013 – 2031 during consultation for the region’s new planning scheme in 2014.
The strategy is available at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au
