Nov2013_A HUNDRED HARLEYS TO HELP OUT DAYBORO !
Dayboro is set to echo with the roar of Harley Davidsons, as more than a hundred Harley’s rumble through our town, in the name of charity.
Dayboro’s school Chaplain and the local churches will profit from the convoy – as the Harley Owners’ Group stops for morning tea at the Showgrounds.
The group contacted local Chappy Darren Herrgott, and asked if he was interested in hosting a charity morning tea for their members. The HOG’s offer many charity organisations the chance to cater a quick cuppa and cake, as the group passes through towns on their regular rides.
On December 1st, Dayboro’s Combined Churches will put on a sumptuous spread for more than a hundred riders at the Showgrounds, the proceeds to be shared between the Chaplaincy program, and the Combined Churches’ welfare work in Dayboro.
So if you’re interested in checking out the HOG’s gleaming machines – be quick !
They’ll only be at the Showgrounds for one hour, between 9:30am – 10:30am, on the 1st of December, while the riders enjoy Dayboro’s hospitality, inside the Pavilion.
A word from the ride captain
Thank you for your interest in the Brisbane Chapter of The Harley Owners Group (HOG) there are over 1 million members worldwide with our Brisbane chapter having around 500 members both male and female, with many lady riders. Our main charity is muscular dystrophy and along with our sponsoring dealer Morgan and Wacker we support them through the year. The club has been doing the morning tea stop for many years. Each month we have a Sunday ride where we meet at the dealership at Newstead after a briefing we head off, the morning tea stop is usually at a school, scouts, or simular group who quite often find funds hard to come by, they organise to supply us with morning tea in a variety of forms, the members pay around $5-8 per person and along with raffle ticket sales, raise much needed extra funds. They get to look over the bikes and get some photos, on average we can get between 120 to 180 bikes and around 150-200 people on each ride. I hope on my ride on December 1st to have 120 plus bikes and 150 members come along, we are doing a roll the dice run, where at each stop each member rolls a dice and at the end of the 5th stop the best combinations will win some prizes.
