Moreton Bay Regional Council swearing in

A new page in history was marked on April 3, when the newly formed Moreton Bay Regional Council had its councillors and mayor sworn in at a ceremony at North Lakes Community Centre. Moreton Bay Regional Council is the third largest local government authority in Australia.

Representing the former indigenous landowners, Michael Connelly presented Mayor Alan Sutherland with a “Boomerdigeroo”. Mr Connelly earlier played the didgeridoo for the assemblage.

As part of their curriculum training, Bray Park State High School students, (L to R) Jessica Stewart, Krystal Duncanson, Stephanie Beasy and Emily Huckle, served the guests at the statutory meeting of Moreton Bay Regional Council held at North Lakes Community Centre.
