A new kid on the (quilting) block
There was a time when crafting was something only a more mature lady admitted to enjoying.  In recent times, however, the gentle art of sewing has undergone a renaissance.
Craft and quilting classes across the nation – indeed, across the world – are being booked out by a voracious new audience eager to acquire the skills of patience and dexterity.  For some young hipsters it may be following a trend, but for most it is a way of learning to create something beautiful and unique for their family, friends and sometimes, even themselves.
To meet the needs of a discerning crafty community, local resident and ‘serial sewist’ Helen Asher recently launched www.fingertipfabrics.com , an online destination for any crafter seeking quality fabrics.
“I believe that the precious time and effort you invest in creating something should be matched by the quality and originality of the fabric you use,” says Helen.  “Our fabrics are from designers and manufacturers from around the world who are famous for their innovation and quality.”
By way of an introductory bonus, fingertip fabrics is offering a free fat quarter (50x56cm) to all Dayboro Grapevine readers who order before the end of June.  Simply add the name and colour of the fabric you would like in the ‘Note to Seller’ section of the payment screen.
