Experiencing back pain??

Been told it’s normal – after all your body is changing and the baby is getting bigger!!

Well, think again … as a species we wouldn’t still be around if a woman’s body was not designed to carry and birth a baby, and to do it well!!
Yet why is it that 40 – 70% of women experience back and neck pain when pregnant?  What should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, is often marred by nagging discomfort and sometimes outright pain.
Realise pain and discomfort are merely symptoms, a message from your body – not a jail sentence to months of discomfort.
Over many years, prior to your pregnancy, your body has had its share of minor and sometimes, major, mishaps.  Falls, sporting injuries, car accidents, poor posture and sedentary work can all accumulate in the body creating pelvic and spinal imbalances.  And then during pregnancy, the additional weight and postural shifts to a body already out-of-balance are just that little bit too much – pain and discomfort. result.
Equally, of concern, is the fact that when the pelvis is out of balance the ligaments supporting the uterus are torqued, creating constraint in the uterus.  This constriction may prevent your baby from moving into the best possible position for birth.  As well, associated nerve irritation interferes with the effectiveness of contractions so that the two together may result in a labour that is unnecessarily long and painful.
Chiropractic care specifically addresses pelvic and spinal imbalances.  Techniques are specially modified for pregnant women and are gentle, effective and extremely safe.  Research shows that chiropractic care not only reduces pain during your pregnancy, but also during labour by 50%, and labour time by between 24 and 39%.
I am passionate about providing chiropractic care for mums and bubs because I’ve seen first hand the amazing benefits of good, regular care.  Not only will you be more comfortable, more active, enjoy working and sleep better but you will also be taking steps to ensure your body is well-balanced and prepared for labour and birth.  All these benefits will help to ensure a natural birth and a gentle welcome to your long-awaited baby.
