May 2010 . . DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL Sunday 30th May

incorporating  DAYBORO ANTIQUE & COLLECTABLES FAIR

With Market Stalls with all manner of things on sale;  FREE Entertainment on multiple stages;  Street Parade; Displays;  Demonstrations . . . . Then there are the distinctly Dayboro-type fun and novelty events!  What a full day it will be!!

This year in the novelty events we will see the emergence of 2 new events in the WACKY WHEELBARROW RELAY and the DAYBORO DEBATE DEBACLE.
The Wacky Wheelbarrow Relay is for our community groups to nominate for participation in, vying for the prize-money on offer.  This will be in Williams Street at 1.30pm.
The Dayboro Debate Debacle takes place on the stage in Lions Park at noon and will see 2 teams conduct their debate on a ‘serious’ topic, ‘Should Dayboro be the Capital of Qld?’

ANTIQUE & COLLECTABLES FAIR

Parking is at the Showgrounds as is the Antique & Collectables Fair, with leading dealers from all corners of southeast Queensland exhibiting fine antiques and collectables at most affordable prices – English, European, Continental and, of course, Australian Wares.  Verbal Valuations happening again – Refer to the lift-out section.
Entry fee:  Adults $5 (Under 16’s free).

OLD & INTERESTING TEA TOWELS!!

Do you have any old and interesting tea towels that you would be prepared to loan for the display that will be featured at this year’s Antique & Collectables Fair?  If so, contact Jackie Wallace on 3425 1029.
Do refer to the lift-out in this edition.  This contains the info on Dayboro Day’s program etc.  It folds into a handy brochure size that will fit easily into your pocket or bag.

TRAFFIC ALERT – For Dayboro Day Festival

Residents of Heathwood Street and Millbrook Estate will also be affected by this closure!! (i.e. NO EXIT)
Williams Street Dayboro will be closed, from the McKenzie and Bradley Streets T-junction to the Railway Parade intersection, between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm.  Main access through the township will be via the road next to the Community Hall.  As this is a single lane road and usually one-way, the “Stop” “Go” signage will be in operation.
This year, McKenzie Street will also be closed at Delaney Road and Williams Street/ Bradley Street intersection.   This will affect residents on the Laceys Creek/ Mount Pleasant side of town (including as close to town as Cruice and Roderick Streets).  Traffic to these areas will be able to enter and exit via a diversion between Don Kerr Memorial Drive and Mt Mee Road.
Be prepared to leave home a little earlier if you have sporting commitments etc.  Remember that this makes it far safer for the pedestrians wandering along Williams Street during our Festival.
