Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade
I’m sure you are all looking forward to cooler temperatures. We certainly are.  It gets pretty hot in full uniform and PPE.
Welcome to our newest members (trainees) Laurel Purves, Alex Jagodzinski and Robert Clark.
As our brigade is growing in numbers (due to our awesome reputation) Janet and Steve McCabe have been providing separate training for new trainees.  They do this in addition to the regular brigade training to ensure the trainees get the ‘core skills’ training they need.  It’s a ‘one to one’ approach that ensures they gain the confidence they need to be on the fireground and to support them in preparation for their FMS assessments.
This month saw our VCE’s assisting the community with a range of events including a fire management workshop, horse rescue demo at the QSEC Horse Show & a Welfare Fun Day.
Thank you to the local landholders that attended the recent fire management workshop organised by council.  It’s great to see residents taking a proactive approach to ensuring the safety of their family, livestock & properties.  It was even better to see neighbours working collectively on fire management systems.
Apparently George Clooney has been receiving calls about fire permits & HRB’s.  Please contact your local fire warden for permits.  Thanks Trevor! Could this be a man crush?
Would you like to learn more about the work we do in the community, what you can do yourself and see us in action?
Mark it in your diaries – Saturday 14th June – more info in next months article.

(Volunteer Info Profile)
We moved to Dayboro about 25 years ago. I was working in my trade as a motor mechanic for 24 years, when the local water carrier business came up for sale. I jumped at the chance to both work and live in the Dayboro area. When the Dayboro and District Rural Brigade reformed some 15 years ago, I decided to join up, as I was looking to do my bit for the community.
A few years ago, I was elected to the position of 2nd officer and also attended a crew leader course.  The experiences I have had, the training I have received, and the friendships that have formed have been really rewarding.  It has been good to utilise our business of Dayboro Water Carriers to help out with fires occasionally.  It’s also handy as I work locally.
the Wardens’ Word
***ALL FIRES-ongoing request***
The wardens for Dayboro, Laceys Creek, Mt Brisbane & Mt. pleasant are requesting a courtesy call before lighting ANY fire please.  Even fires below the 2x2m permit requirements.  This is ‘not’ mandatory just a safety precaution.  With conditions as they are, any smoke noticed is inspected. So a quick call will save valuable time. Thanks for your co-operation! For our regular readers – Yes I meant to repeat this message as ongoing.
Just a reminder that contact details for Fire Wardens are available on our FB page & the back page of the fantastic Community Calendar done by the Progress Association.
