Mar2012_DAYBORO TRAILRIDERS
The Clubs first ride for 2012 attracted 16 riders and 2 new members. A great start to the year.Leaving the showgrounds at 8.30am sharp, we rode via Edmunds Court, McKenzie Street, Riverview, Hillview Terraces, and through Hillview Park. We then continued off the bitumen through Neil’s, across Glover Road, through Humbles, Richardson’s, Dick’s, Angela’s Old Place and back round to Woodward Road.
Then onto Steve’s where we picked up Steve and two of his friends, through forestry land, back across Dick’s and Humbles, the Pine River, which looked lovely, and returned home to the Showgrounds around 1 o’clock.
We are very lucky to have so many landowners permitting us to cross through their land. It also reflects the respect that our club shows to their properties in return.
Back at the showgrounds, Don and Noella greeted us with a tasty BBQ, which was very much appreciated. Danny helped prepare the salads, organised by our caterer, Lisa. Lisa is also known for yummy desserts and this month was no exception – the jelly lollies are always popular with our older ‘kids’ too! What a great day horse-riding with friendly people and willing horses.
Members held the club’s AGM on 9th February with a great attendance. The club membership is up in numbers by a third from last year.
The committee members for the year are:
President – Bob Ebert;
Vice President – Peter Rudd;
Secretary – Debby Kirkwood;
Treasurer – Lorraine Bailey;
Catering co-ordinator – Lisa Schumann;
Boss Drovers – Kev McKenzie, Arthur Kent, Peter Rudd and Graham Bailey;
Newsletter – Melanie Theed.
Our next Club ride is an all day ride on Sunday March 25th. New members are very welcome. Before that, we have a trip away to Yarraman on the 10th March, and after we have a trip to Kilkivan on the 31st March then Blackbutt 6th – 9th April.
