Deputy Mayor, Mike Charlton, said the award recognised the environmental significance and innovation of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Total Water Cycle Management Plan.

“The Total Water Cycle Management Plan is the first of its kind in South East Queensland and demonstrates Moreton Bay Regional Council’s commitment to a sustainable community, and protecting our natural assets for future generations,” Cr Charlton said.

“It’s a crucial component of council’s new, region-wide planning scheme which we’ll be seeking the community’s views on in coming months.”

Council’s Strategic Planning spokesperson, Cr Mick Gillam, said the Total Water Cycle Management Plan (TWCM) had been developed to help sustainably manage waterways in the Moreton Bay Region.

“It provides a framework for balancing growth with the needs of the local environment, and identifying strategies for the long-term management, health and quality of local waterways,” Cr Gillam said.
