June2012_RENDEZVOUS RAMBLINGS

Rendezvous has had a very busy couple of months.  Reading groups, writing groups, visiting authors and of course our very successful evenings.  We are very excited about our next event, “An Evening with Annette Henderson” on the 14th of July.  Annette is the author of “Wild Spirit”
In June 1975 Australian couple Annette and Win Henderson found themselves stranded in Libreville, Gabon after travelling halfway across Africa.  When a thief robs their Kombi van, they are left penniless with no way to go back and no way to go on. They are saved by a chance meeting with a local expat, who offers them work at a remote mining camp in the mountains, close to the Congo border in a region never visited by tourists and accessible only by canoe.
At the camp Annette battles isolation, culture shock and the challenges of a job for which she is ill-prepared.  She finds solace and joy in the vast equatorial forest – a world as enthralling as any David Attenborough documentary – but when she becomes surrogate parent to an orphaned baby gorilla, Josie, her life changes forever.
We are so pleased to have Annette join us and she is looking forward to meeting all the readers and conservationists in Dayboro.
Annettes’ book “Wild Spirit will be on sale and part of all book proceeds are donated to a variety of conservation charities around the world.
Tickets will be $25.00 which includes free flowing champagne and nibbles.  This is sure to be a very popular evening so contact Rendezvous on 3425 1353 to make a booking or drop in to purchase your ticket.
We look forward to seeing you to Relax, Read, Rendezvous
Deb.
