Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade
It’s hard to believe we are in the second half of the year already. Congratulations to Grace Lye for receiving the Young Achiever Award at the Dayboro Day Festival Ceremonies. Grace is our VIP for this month.
I’ve had a few residents ask for information about when to call ‘000’ and what to expect when you call.
If you need Police, Fire or Ambulance in an emergency call triple zero (000)
When should you call triple zero (000)
If a crime is happening now.
When a life is threatened.
When the event is time critical, for example a fire.
When reporting a fire these are some of the questions the operator may ask you:
What is the location of the fire?
The street name and number and suburb? The nearest intersection?
What is the type of incident? Building fire, home fire, bush fire, car fire, etc.
How many people are involved?
Are there people in the house or car?
Is other assistance required? Ambulance or police.
What is your name, address and telephone number?
Obligations and Responsibilities of Permit Holders
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has produced a brochure which is designed to provide awareness of the obligations and responsibilities associated with the use of a QFES Permit to Light Fire (permit). This brochure is available to download from their website.
It is highly recommended that anyone who already has a permit, or is contemplating using fire within Queensland read this brochure. www.rurlafire.qld.gov.au
Remember, hazard reduction burns aren’t the only form of mitigation landholders can use to reduce fuel loads – they can also put in fire breaks, clear up your property, slash overgrowth, ensure they have enough firefighting equipment on hand and create a property fire management plan.
Are your family, home & neighbours prepared?

IF WE ALL DO A LITTLE, WE’LL ACCOMPLISH A LOT

(Volunteer Info Profile)
I joined the brigade because I wanted to do more to help out my community and be involved in it. I am really enjoying the family feel to the brigade and its brilliant community involvement. I have lived in Dayboro all my life and love it so much! I work at an Outside School Hours Care at St Joseph’s Primary school at Bracken Ridge. I work with the preps and grade ones and love it very much. In my spare time I run the local youth group and meet with friends and family. I some how get insanely busy catching up with every one.
