July2015_FAITH & LIVING

Jungle Time – As this edition of Dayboro Grapevine goes to press, 5 Dayboro residents will be deep in the Bolivian Amazon jungle, visiting Mik Henzell and all the kids at Casa Segura (Safe House).  Joining Judy and myself on our 5th visit, will be Geoff & Karen Gear along with their son, Peter.

It’s always an exciting adventure to go to such a wild and exotic part of the world, but that excitement gets tempered by the challenge of so very many flights (4) over so many flying hours (25) across so many time zones.
We’ll stop in Chile to catch our breath, where we’ll also visit the town where our family lived for 6 years and I’ll preach in our old church in Vina del Mar.  I’m hoping that my Spanish is still working, but looking forward to showing the Gears the wonders of that amazing continent.

When we finally land on the jungle airstrip in northern Bolivia, Mik will be waiting with his truck and he’ll be excited to see us and ready to relieve us of the Vegemite and Chocolate that he’s been asking for!
If you’re a praying person, please remember us in your prayers…for safety, good health, protection from mosquitoes/malaria/dengue and for the grace and ability to encourage Mik, his team and the children.  We will take with us the funds that folk at Dayboro Church and other locals have so kindly donated to buy the children desperately needed new clothes and shoes.
See you soon…. hasta la vista!
Gary Levens
Pastor at Dayboro Church.
