Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade
Wow what a crazy month it has been. Who came by the showgrounds to have a giggle on 14 June for our skills & drills day? It was a fun day & lucky for us the weather was perfect. There are plenty of photos on FB if you missed out.
Welcome to our newest member, Angela Koek.
Congratulations to brigade members Selwyn Barr & Lee Tapper of Barr/Tapper Rural Fencing & Weed Spraying for receiving the Dayboro Day Business of the Year award. Sel & Lee contribute a great deal to the community and the brigade. We are proud to have you on our team.
Our very dedicated BTO (Brigade Training Officer) Brian (Moose) Marfleet handed over the reins to the very capable Janet McCabe. Thank you so much to Brian for the many hours you have devoted to the BTO role. You deserve a break. Janet is well prepared for the role having trained the last 2 groups of trainees. We promise we’ll go easy on you!
Who’s checked their yellow post recently? That number again for Moreton Bay Regional Council is ph: 3205 0555

(Volunteer Info Profile)
After searching for the ideal place to raise our kids, my wife Leith and I found our perfect piece of land in Dayboro in 2006. Even the hour each way in traffic to work every day was worth it to come home to our quiet little town. However, not long after we moved in, one hot windy Sunday afternoon, I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back paddock. It wasn’t long before we realised there was a fire rolling down the hill behind our neighbours block, heading toward us. Just as I was telling Leith to ring 000, this strange ute came flying up my drive, with Mr. Glenn Bell (DDRFB Chairman) behind the wheel. A couple of minutes later up comes the Red Fire Truck, followed closely by the Yellow Rural Fire Truck. Within the next 15 minutes, a number of yellow uniforms appeared, a lot driving there own vehicles. We couldn’t believe the community spirit, the mateship and the care shown by everyone that day. The following week, I contacted The Dayboro Rurals and signed up. I have a senior management and security background, and have managed and worked alongside many different types of people, but the guys and girls I have met and had the pleasure of volunteering alongside at the DDRFB, are second to none.

**Fire Safety Outdoors***
Just like your indoor heaters, your outdoor heaters need to be checked regularly for faults or damage. Check your gas cylinders and hose fittings for leaks and make sure they are turned off and disconnected when not in use. Be sure to keep it clear of any potential flammable materials.
