July2012_ Dayboro Day award a cause for celebration

The Dayboro Day festival has come and gone for another year, and full credit must go to the Dayboro District Progress Association for its success.  With huge crowds, perfect weather and an exciting range of things to see and do, it’s no wonder visitors travel from far and wide to be part of it.
This year the Old Mill Vet Surgery had a special role to play, and we were humbled to receive the Business Recognition Award at the annual Dayboro Day Awards Ceremony.
The award comes at a time of great growth for the Old Mill Vet Surgery, and it reinforced the community’s support of our wonderful small business.  As Dr Slade Walker said in his acceptance speech, being a vet is not a job but a lifestyle.  One which is full of ups and downs, early starts and late callouts.  Often our only reward is the deep sense of satisfaction in helping to fix a young pet or easing the pain of an older animal.  So when we were announced the winner of this award, it was overwhelming to know that you really do notice our personal service and deep commitment to the Dayboro community.
When you buy from a local business owned by a local family, it is not a matter of helping inner city board members to buy more holiday homes.  You are helping us to reinvest in your community and buy the latest veterinary equipment to treat your pets with.  Our sterile autoclave, second anaesthetic machine and dental station have all been purchased from local businesses in the last 12 months, and there is much more to come in subsequent months.
You are also helping our little boy get swimming lessons, and our nurses to pay their tertiary education debts.  We all live, eat, shop and play within this immediate community, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our customers are our ‘shareholders’ and they are the ones we strive to make happy.  Thank you for your patronage, support and kind words.
