– MUSICAL FUNDRAISER FOR DISASTER VICTIMS

Like everybody who saw the images of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster Jeannie Driver, Samford Valley Steiner School’s music teacher, decided she couldn’t sit by and do nothing.
So, given that music is her passion and what she knows best she decided to organise a fundraising concert.  The afternoon concert, Music for Japan, was held in the school’s award-winning performance hall and featured many talented local performers, including parents and students from the school.  The proceeds from the ticket sales amounted to an impressive $2024.
“They did a really great job, a wonderful effort.  The people from Japan will really benefit from their kind donation,” said Sonya Keep, Group Manager – Strategic Coordination from the Red Cross, when she was presented with the cheque by the students. The much-needed funds will be added to the charity’s Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011.
Samford Valley Steiner School is in Narrawa Drive, Wights Mountain, 5 minutes drive from Samford Village. For further information visit www.samfordsteiner.qld.edu.au .
