Feb2013_OLD MILL VET SURGERY PET OF THE MONTH

We see so many adorable pets every day that it is very tough to choose the ‘Pet of the Month’ each time.  This month we profile a gorgeous little Persian kitten, called Tiger, who has been to us for all the right reasons.
Tiger’s mum, Sarah, is a proactive pet owner who has ensured her much loved fur-kid will benefit from preventative veterinary care for many years to come.
While Tiger was in the Old Mill Veterinary Surgery for routine healthcare procedures, he had a full blood panel done to test for genetic diseases, as well as for the illness Polycystic Kidney Disease, which affects Persians and specific other feline breeds.
Most of these tests are performed at the Old Mill Vet Surgery with same-day results, and all other testing can be sent to our affiliated external laboratories, where testing often occurs overnight.
With this baseline information available to Sarah, we will be able to identify illness or disease much sooner in Tiger, if we see a deviation from his normal healthy results.
He recovered immediately from these simple tests, as the nurses distracted him with fluffy toys and lots of cuddles.
