FAMILY DAY CARE NEEDS MORE CARERS
Pine Rivers Family Day Care is currently seeking carers across the broader Moreton Bay region.
The group, which has been council-operated in the Pine Rivers area for the past 32 years, is keen to hear from people committed to the quality care of young children.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the service provided pre-school children with a very personal and natural style of care while also giving the carers an opportunity to run a business from home.
He said Family Day Care staff supported and monitored the carers – who are independent contractors working within the framework of the Child Care Act and Regulation .
“Council supports the service‟s excellent standard of care for children, and helps to sustain their families," Cr Sutherland said.
“Together staff and contractors ensure the best possible outcomes for families and children. They have a proven record in providing safe and suitable environments, which foster children‟s development in all areas, offering a family-like atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.”
Bray Park Family Day Carer Alexandra Grandmougin is a former chef who now enjoys taking care of children and running her own business at home.
After joining the Family Day Care Scheme, Alexandra said she appreciated the opportunity to make an income while being on hand for her own two children.
Cr Sutherland said Family Day Care staff were experienced and qualified in Early Childhood or related fields and the service was accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC).
