EXCITING NEWS FROM DAYBORO STATE SCHOOL

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been successful in receiving over $2.7 million dollars in the first round of the “Building the Education Revolution” economic stimulus package.

This money will be used to build a new multipurpose hall, a new library, a new science and technology centre, to refurbish existing buildings and to upgrade general facilities at our school.

After all our hard work last year – trying to get a grant for a new library – we really can’t believe this is happening.  Whether or not our letters of request for help to Education Qld helped us along or not we will never know.  What I do know though, is that Liz Laur, our Sponsorship and Fundraising Co-Ordinator, put a lot of work into this project last year and for that we are truly thankful.
As stated in our letter of agreement, this process is to start immediately – so who knows – our Year 7 children this year may even be the first to graduate in our very own school hall.  HOW EXCITING!!!!!
On the same day as we received this news, we also received notification from the Community Benefit Gambling Fund, that we were successful with our Grant application for $27,000 to go towards the School Frontage Beautification Project.  Dayboro State School is definitely the place to be in 2009 and beyond.
Isn’t it amazing that only a couple of years ago we were going through turmoil but not so now.  Since Glynnis Gartside was appointed as our New Principal in mid 2007 our school has gone from strength to strength.  Among many other initiatives, Glynnis has worked tirelessly with teachers, staff and students to implement a new Behaviour Matrix throughout the school.  The children have taken to this new Matrix like ducks to water.  I cannot tell you how proud I am to be a part of this wonderful school.  Although we had to fight hard to get it to what it is today the journey was definitely worth it
And now to be chosen as one of the first in the district to be awarded such a HUGE amount of money is really just the icing on the cake.
So rather than dwelling on the negatives of the past we here at the Dayboro State School are focusing on the positives of the future.
GO DAYBORO STATE SCHOOL!!!
