EAGLE BOYS PIZZA in DAYBORO!!!!!
Oh my! Sometimes things just move so quickly! Who’d have thought that DAYBORO would have an Eagle Boys Pizza franchise up and running by the end of June??!! But . . . there you have it.
The shop fitted out, staff employed and trained. WOW! (All within less than a month of contacting me about placing an advertisement for staff – Unfortunately this was too late for inclusion in our June edition – it was already printed!)
Cast your mind back to the laugh we had a few years ago, when some wag got their hands on a “MacDonalds Hiring Now” sign, and hung it on the construction fencing of the building now housing the IGA! Yeah right! Not in Dayboro we all laughed!
We have some sectors of our community “over the moon” about Eagle Boys opening up – because of the job opportunities it offers our youngsters, and because of the expansion to the takeaway food options available. As they are trading 7 days a week it also fills the gap left when other food outlets are closed, at the beginning of the week. Hours will be initially 4.30pm to 9pm – so, sorry, it’s Pizza for dinner, not for lunch!
I’ve heard people voicing disapproval of this “unhealthy” food option coming to town. Whilst it may not be as healthy as “meat and veg”, it can’t be as bad for the body as the chips and other deep fried delights already available . . . and popular. (What is in a Pizza? Bread-type crust, tomato based sauce, fresh toppings of meat & veg, topped with cheese then baked. That’s sounds pretty good doesn’t it.)
SIGNAGE!
What is of immediate concern is the pink sign lit up on the store’s awning! How can this be considered to be in keeping with the streetscape – with our town plan? (See Cr Millar’s column p.21) It certainly detracts from the look and feel of the rest of the main street.
